But the thing is, LaTeX doesn't even appear on the black background. And some coloured text doesn't change to green...

Oh, it's easy! you just go on profile-display-and it's the first one. it should be a drag down box with words like Cobalt in it.

For simplicity, which is uncommon among others, the option of having no skin is available. But it takes some getting used to, as instead of a nicely laid out forum, you just have a row of links.
