Whyslopes Website

Professor Whyslopes (Alan. Selby, Ph. D.) wrote to me to tell me he has a link to this website from his website http://www.whyslopes.com/ (much appreciated smile)

His website has "senior and college level appetizers and lessons". As well as that, I found some interesting pages such as How to Study Math and Why ("...You should view mathematics as an opportunity to strengthen your thinking skills....") and Skill and Knowledge Checklist.

Have a visit and tell me what you find!

(I am going to email him back to tell him about this discussion ... with luck he may join in)

Many Years I would say. Even longer considering what led up to him starting the site.

Re: Whyslopes Website

In fall 1983, I invented or gave three lessons (three skills for algebra, why slopes - a calculus preview, and logic - one versus two way implications).  The lessons worked in class, and I used them repeatedly.  I started writing in 1991 with the aim of reporting ideas through channels. But channels were closed, and I put online a dozen webpages in summer 1995. Kind website reviews in 1996, spring, led to more and more writing. Enjoy.
