Re: Hi

Average?

There are a few forms of averages.

The 4 main ones are Mean, Median, Mode and Range.

The Mean is more commonly used as an average. To find the Mean of something, we add all our numbers up and divide by the number or numbers. So, if I had the numbers 4, 8, 1 and 2, I would add those up which makes 15, then divide that my the number of numbers, which is 4.

The Median is slightly different. Again, it is a form of can average. To find the Median of something, we must order all our numbers from smallest to largest (in ascending order). Only then can we find the Median. All the Median really is, in basic terms, is the middle number. So, if I had a set of numbers such as 5, 1, 3, 4 and 7, I would order them into 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7 and then find the middle number. In this case, the median would be 4, because there are two numbers on either side of 4. There are some quick ways of finding the Median, see if you can figure them out.

The Mode is different, also. It is just the most frequent number, I need not give you any tips for this.

The Range is just the smallest number subtracted from the largest number.
