Future job; what do you want to do?

What do you want to do/be in the future?

Well, when I grow up I would really like to be a theoretical or astonomical physicist dizzy but if I can't then I'll probably be a maths teacher or an accountant.

Re: Future job; what do you want to do?

My ambitions are quite narrow. My main aim is to be a medical doctor (head of department), but not much else. My second is to be a professional musician.

Professor of mathematics, hands down.

I've wanted to be a doctor ever since I could talk. Though I wouldn't mind being a vet. Or mabye a profesionall actress or piano player. But I really don't know what I want to be. For me, going to uni is a verry long way away. lol

Re: Future job; what do you want to do?

I honestly don't know.

Computers have woven in and out of my life so far, but I have mostly used them while working on "real world" problems. I have worked in the "back room" (pure computing) before, but never for long. Usually I am where the action is, which suits me.

But recently I have been working more by the internet (a virtual worker).

So I imagine I will continue to evolve along those lines, but who know what I will be doing in 5 years? Hopefully a part of my life will be helping to look after a more advanced version of this forum smile

Re: Future job; what do you want to do?

I don't have much of an idea either.

I like maths, but I'm not sure I would want to be doing it all the time, or if I would be good enough. Learning languages is fun, but I don't really think I would want to be a professional translator or anything like that. Science and computing/technology/programming are also things I might look into. And I love music, so that may be a possibility! But a down side of working in the arts is that you don't get paid much ...

I'm only sure of the things I don't want to be: a vet, doctor, nurse, dentist (all jobs in the health sector, really!).

Hopefully over the next few years I'll get more of an idea.

Re: Future job; what do you want to do?

Heh, so many people want to become doctors. All the 99.95% VCErs on the news wanted to become doctors. Well that's good because Australia's short of doctors and we need good ones.

Re: Future job; what do you want to do?

Justlooking, I love your new avatar, the numbers are great; it relates to the board now!

It's so difficult to come up with a staight answer to what you want to do, I think. After I do my A levels I think I'll have a better idea, but now I think I want to do something with maths or science. I don't like being creative too much - it requires so much more effort than just learning things.
I also like music, I'm doing it at GCSE, but I don't want to take a job involved with it, maybe I should just leave it as a hobby. I used to play instruments quite a lot and stuff, but I'm sort of doing it less often now.

Does that mean you already are what you want to be? Or do you want to be something else?

Re: Future job; what do you want to do?

i dont really know. its a long ime until i get 18 years old plus i have to gothrough university. i really dont know and id ont think i should worry about it at my young age. i say take my chances and worry about the consequences later (unless i might anger my mum then i would get practically killed)

but otherwise maybe a docter or dentist or actuary. my mums pressuring me to do GCSE maths sooner but i dont really want too...

but my mums worked so hard so ill just go along with it

i might sound like shikamaru. but life is troublesome...

Re: Future job; what do you want to do?

I did my work experience last May in an optician's. I positively hated it because they just gave me basic repetitive tasks to do, although I did like learning the different parts of the eye and the tools they used to look into it. But what else can they give untrained in anything fourteen to fifteen years olds to do?
Some people in my class got to work in airports and hospitals, and they really enjoyed it: I suppose where you go might depend on how much you enjoy it. I kept getting rejected from places like that so when I tried the optician's I just stuck with it. I did the work experience for a week, some of the time you have to do it for two weeks - how long do you need to do it for?

You have to have an interview just for work experience? All we have to send is a cover letter and resume.
