I would say the same. But obviously not for the whole of MathsIsFun, just the Euler's Avenue section.

Is there any point in me telling you to stop using the word "what"for no reason?

I was just wondering exactly what chatalot was whating about.

Good Q. How large is a slice of pi? How many angels can dance on a pin? And why would they?
I don't get it. (wheres the catscracher?

Having fun, guys? Some of you, over the age of say, oh, 13 for example, may remember I suggested creating this sub-forum for serious mathematical discussion.
Well done! You turned it into a chat room. Great. This whole forum fails in its objective.

Oddly enough, I was wondering where you had run off to just the other day, ben. Perhaps you are not back though. But you do bring up something important. Should this forum be more heavily moderated than the others? As stated, this is for serious mathematical discussion, and spam that is unrelated should not be tolerated and removed. This is the one forum on this site that should be treated in this way most strictly, because it is for people who are able to understand what is being discussed or who are capable and willing to learn how to understand what is being discussed; this is the "mature" section of the website. If someone comes here just to say "wow that's hard and i have no idea what you are talking about LOLOLOL" or "i am in preschool i don't get it :(" they clearly aren't helping the discussion. I must say, however, that this seems to be the only thread on this forum which is getting some of that, although I haven't really looked through the individual threads to check that out. If there are particular threads or posts elsewhere in this forum that disturb you, ben, could you mention them?
Offline
Ben, take a look at the threads in this forum before saying that. I agree, the above should be posted elsewhere, but I wouldn't say this forum fails in its objective.
"In the real world, this would be a problem. But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist. So we'll go ahead and do that now..."

Good point, ben. We have a couple of new members who have been posting all over and we may have missed a few. I shall endeavour to be a little stricter.
But isn't it nice having a mix of ages and skills? The more experienced can help the less so, and we can overcome this stratified society of ours.

It has indeed been happening in other threads. But I reported them because of spam, unnecessary comments and off-topic posts. I agree that this needs to be stricter.

I agree with Zhylliolom and Ricky. This thread is for discussion about Euler Avenue, rather than actually being part of it. We've got a few chatters in this particular thread, but the rest of Euler Avenue is mostly clean, I think.
Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Sure, forgive me, it was Monday night = Grumpy night. Sorry for any offense.
Anyway, I guess I never really "left" this forum, just got bored with the content - my fault, not yours.... Ah well, as I say, it's me at fault. Take care, all.

Just wondering here -- where should I post stuff on, say, quantum physics?

Hi;
Does Combinatorics qualify as an "advanced topic" here?
