Significant Digits java-thingy
MIF, if you try this data in your thingy, it gets two decimal points.

It's a bit old, but no one has replied ...
It does that for me too, John. Also for 20, 22, and 26 decimal places with pi.

Investigation revealed that internally it was converting a long list of digits to scientific notation which then played havoc with the rest of the routine.
I came up with a new method which hopefully works. It does for me.
Please try heaps of random variations and tell me how it goes
