Translate this: Adios! Muchas Gracias De Nada!
(It's Spanish )
"Reality leaves a lot to the imagination," ~ John Lennon
Offline
Bye, thanks for nothing.
A more accurate translation;
Goodbye, [very] many thanks for nothing.
No translator was used, it was just basic Spanish.
Offline
Thanks for nothing in Spanish is gracias por nada, not gracias de nada.
Id write that as ¡Adiós! Muchas gracias, de nada. Goodbye! Thanks a lot, its all right.
But I suppose Im being overly pedantic (as I always am).
Offline
Yes, gracias de nada means Thanks Of Nothing.

So, whats the joke (or why is this in the Jokes section)?

So, whats the joke (or why is this in the Jokes section)?
I have no idea, but I guess it is partially a humorous cyber-observation...or maybe I put it the wrong way.

I don't know... I thought it would just cause a big uproar or something.

Maybe a 'joke dictionary' should be created. Sort of like an archive, to categorize all jokes posted here. It would be cool, just like the Sharing Your Coded Creations thread I made.

Okay, since we are on the subject of translation and its in the Jokes section, how about translating the following?
¿Por qué cruzó el pollo la calle?
Porque quería llegar al otro lado.
Its Spanish and its a joke!
Offline
Not really funny. Translation;
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to the other side.
But a bit of Spanish is good.
Spanish is fun, and speaking and typing in it is even more fun.

Well, its good to know that there are some great linguists in the forum.

Yep. I remember creating a thread about languages and who spoke them. It died down through the forum, but I gathered a lot of information, such as how many people spoke which language, and who, etc...

Now how about something in French?
Pourquoi le poulet a-t-il traversé la route?
Parce quil voulait aller de lautre côté.
And its a joke as well!
Offline
I guess it's the same joke!

Where is that thread? As a language-learner, I am moderately interested.
Actually I never watch Star Wars and not interested in it anyway, but I choose a Yoda card as my avatar in honor of our great friend bobbym who has passed away.
May his adventurous soul rest in peace at heaven.
