Oh, it is just too hard.

Because of so much spam, there are lots of anti-email measures around that it makes it hard for legitimate bulk emails to get through.

Some gateways even count how many you send, and if you exceed a limit they stop all future emails from you.

I have estimated that I would be lucky to get half through the system, and might get blacklisted for normal emails in the process. People do send out newsletters, but they have to use special techniques and usually develop migraines in the process.
