As a result of what I said earlier, the melting of the ice caps will accelerate exponentially. Having all this newly melted water flowing into the oceans could, like in The Day After Tomorrow, disrupt the ocean currents that stabilize our climate.
Luckily, the consequences will be slightly slower-acting than in the movie.
Unfortunately, the world could end up like it does at the end of the movie in not that long.

Unfortunately, the melting of the ice caps will, as you said, change a lot.
The ice, when it's frozen, reflects a large amount of heat away from the Earth, but when it melts, we get seawater, which absorbs all that heat. The consequences of this process are still unknown (but I think we all know that it is NOT good).

It obviously means storms in the north, right? The ice being gone and all...

Quite right. Storms in the north, perhaps in the south, too...

I guess the positive side of all this is that if we end up like at the end of the movie, we'll be able to build all sorts of huge snow structures (tunneling through 20 feet of snow to make a huge hideout, for example). Unfortunately, we would have to wear really thick jackets to keep from freezing to death.

What do you mean second ice age?! the world is billions of years old, and glacial periods arrise every 10 000 years or so (whilst lasting 110 000 years) - so there has been thousands of ice ages! In the last ice age, 66% of Britain was completely covered in ice - thats as far down as the Thames! The next glacial period is actually due to start now!

Actually, I have heard that we're overdue for our ice age by about 1000 years!

The actual number is probably less than this, but we're still overdue.

Yes. Still it is very serious. Humans are very sensitive these days. We can't adjust to living somewhere else, simpler, where you don't know the language and without money from the house since no one wants to buy it because no one can use it.

Yeah. If you asked someone to, for example, stop driving their car completely for the rest of their life, they probably couldn't do it (there are a few exceptions). If you made someone completely change the way they live, without electricity, without running water, without paper, etc., VERY few would be able to do it (save those who already live pretty much this way).

Global Warming is nothing to worry about in this present era, people act as if it's a second-to-second disaster.

Atleast the wheather is bad enough here, we don't need no more toxic waste. I call it that cause everything is toxic in big amounts. Greenhouse gas is toxic in the amounts we use. More deadly then any poison that has ever been used.

Global Warming is going to happen, we can't stop it we can just try to slow it down. It probably wont happen for anougther 1000 years at least. WE wil just have to trust God.

Here's an interesting "statistic" (if you can really call it that): If you look at a graph of the CO2 levels over the last several million years, you get something like this:

The little "blips" are the ice ages and subsequent warm-ups before and after. The large climb at the end of the graph has happened over the last hundred years or less!!!

I'm NOT kidding about this -- The current CO2 levels in the atmosphere are WAY higher than they've ever been since the last time the ice caps melted.

It seems like it's going to be very cold, not to mention it wouldv'e been an ice age even if we only let out one tenth of what we did/have done.
So you are probably right, LS, it is going to be very cold. Or if we overdid it, and the ice just melts and nothing more happens...

At the rate we're spiralling downwards, we'll hit our next ice age in the next 80 years or so.

This is REALLY scary to think about deeply, so I advise that you don't.
