Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

So there we have it! the True Value for Infinite/Recurring 0.9 IS! Infinite/Recurring 0.1 < 1

We dont have to know how many Decimal places! just that 0.(n) will always be < 1

Every singular part of the apple is itselfs, any owners right is juridical. You canot take a singular part from itself.

Whatever you're doing, it isn't math.  I was first tempted to call it meta-mathematics, but even that has more structure than what your doing.  Philosophy maybe?

Your apple implies that you and the apple belongs to the same sum of singular units. If you take it away there is no you, in the same way as if you take away your head there is no you either.

S = you

apple belongs to S

S - apple = P
P ≠ S

No, it doesn't.

If you take it away there is no you, in the same way as if you take away your head there is no you either.

Wrong.  If I take away an apple that I have, I am still here.

S = you

apple belongs to S

S - apple = P
P ≠ S

Then S - you = 0, right?

S = apple + P
apple + P - you = 0
apple + P = you.

Do any of those make sense?

Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

Else you would have to explain the mysterious:
Apple belongs to S
Apple does not belong S

"he has it in his pants you see, who can take it then?"

"apple + P - you = 0" So if you would just leave yourself now. Go ahead, do it. Catch it on tape too!

I'm going to have to assume you're just pulling my leg, LQ.  Good one.

Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

Okay, I'll explain it like this, S is the inside of a box, there will allways be something in the box, else it would not be a box. S ≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠≠ 0
0 does not exist in reality.

Of course you can have empty boxes. They make excellent toys.

Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

There is space in the box, and if there is no space in the box, then there is no place in the box where there be zero, and hence it is not a box.

There is no place where there is no space. Space is not zero.

There is no such thing as an empty box.

Yes, let's just ignore the controversial infinite digits and have simple but elegant finite assumption.

Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

What Ricky has argued is not a good point.

Because he simply double-use the concept.

If Ricky is Ricky with an apple.
Definately Ricky without apple is not Ricky with an apple.
Yes we can say both Ricky with or without apple are  Ricky, but two Rickys have difference for sure, which cannot be ignored only by using the same name "Ricky".
A box empty and a box with at least an apple are two different things. You can say they look just alike, but that doesn't mean they are strictly equal.
1-infinitesimal if=1
then infinitesimal=0
then 0.999... can only have finite digits because the digit at the end and the those before it =0 too.
if the infinitesimal ≠0
then 1-infintesimal≠1 (without the apple)
However if you say infinitesimal=0 and infinitesimal≠0 can exist at the same time, then I have few words. But let's consider the counter-situation: at the occasion you say it=0 I say it≠0; in the time you say it≠0 I say it=0 -which seems can exist, too.

If you give Sekky your head, then how much you do you have left?

In any case, if you said you have 0 dollars, honestly... Where are they? They are nowhere right? Then they don't exist and we are talking about the math of existence. Lets simplify and say that you don't have any dollars left.

PS. Why did you give Sekky ten dollars? I haven't got any dollar request from her anyway... Nothing left ey? that's very noble of you.

Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

I found the conversation / insult throwing going on around here highly amusing. Mainly because Anthony was throwing around intelligence insults while making completely obvious English mistakes, which is rather hypocritical. Also, luca continuing to speak to him even though it would obviously end in more insults.

But, as someone complained about it, I suppose I'll delete / edit some posts.

Done.

Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GENIUS ANSWER TO THE INFINITE/RECURRING 0.9 PROBLEM By Anthony.R.Brown 04/06/07.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TV = " The total value for the amount of Infinite/Recurring 0.9's from the Start Onwards "

TD = " The amount of Decimal places Infinite/Recurring 0.9 has Travelled in the Sequence "

TV / TD Will always = 9

Example1 9 / 1 = 9  Example2 18 / 2 = 9  Example3 8991 / 999 = 9

Infinite TV / Infinite TD = 9

The above Proves TV can never Equal 1

Re: 0.9999....(recurring) = 1?

Example 0.(TV) < 1 Because (TV) Never Ends (TD) Must Always Be The Same Length As (TV)

We Know That TV / TD = 9 Is True So 0.(TV) = 0.(9) Where 0.(9) < 1

The problem with this is that when you multiply something by Infinity, it's value becomes meaningless. Infinity x TV = Infinity. Infinity x TD = Infinity. Infinity / Infinity = ?? Maybe = Infinity, maybe = 1, maybe = undefined, depending on who you ask. But it doesn't likely = 9.

I am not Calculating Infinity / Infinity or  Infinity x Infinity

TV and TD are Infinitely Known Values! nothing Changes them! thats Why TV / TD = 9
