I just got the book!
Spent over an hour waiting in the queue outside Waterstones bookstore in Ilford, shivering in the typical British summers night it was worth it in the end.

How many people have finished it?
And what are people's opinions on it? Personally I thought it was fantastic...

Why are you all in such a rush to read this book? Competitiveness? Well, I guess it's only healthy for us to be competitive.
I got it on Saturday, the day after it was released ... I'm going to start reading it on my holiday.
Feel free to spoil it, I like spoilers.

Hedwig dies.
Boy let me tell you what:
I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.

Who's Hedwig?
That annoying little owl?
I always hoped he would die.

No. I was anxious to finish reading the book because the longer I leave it, the greater the risk of my enjoyment being wrecked by spoilers.
Ive finished the book now. It took me about 74 hours to read the book (not including the epilogue). During this time, you dont know what agony it was, trying to avoid accidentally bumping into spoilers. I had to browse the Internet with extreme caution, taking every precaution to avoid sites that might potential contain spoiler info on the plot though I did try not to go online too much. While reading the book, I also tried not to leave the house and when I did, I had to put on earphones and turn the music volume up high so I wouldnt accidentally overhear other people who had finished the book discussing the story with one another.
It was thus with the utmost relief that I finally got to the end of the 36th chapter some time after 02:00 BST this morning. I could at last stop being insanely paranoid against spoilers. The epilogue I could take my own time to read (but Ive now finished reading that as well).
And FYI, Hedwig was a female owl.

Ditto. I knew that *** killed *** near the end of the 6th book before I read it, so I was doubly determined to not ruin it this time. And I didn't.

A very small spoiler, not really a spoiler if you've read ten chapters:
And I'm up to Chapter 16 at the moment- I finished eight an hour after I got the book. I'm a pretty fast reader.

I re-re-re... read all the books before Deathly Hallows came out, and it helped a lot! I still can't believe it's over...! J.K. Rowling is going to write a Harry Potter encyclopedia, thogh...
Did anyone else think the Epiloge didn't give enough information? I was really upset over it... Until I went and watched J.K.R.'s interviews, that is...

I wonder if JK Rowling's going to write a series of books explaining Harry's life before the first book?

I think his life back then would have been pretty monotonous.
Wake up in his cupboard, be unappreciated by the Dursleys, be bullied by Dudley, go to that horrible school, sleep in his cupboard. Repeat.
I think JK. already took the best bits out his pre-wizardly life in Book 1, with the anecdotes of the regrowing hair and vanishing snake cage. The rest of it would probably be boring, especially if stretched out to make a whole book.

Thank god it's finally all over, the whole Voldemort reviving every 1.5 books or so was annoying.
Anyway, I don't think there will be any more books on Harry Potter because is gonna be a whole lot more monotonous -.-
There might be some books in the Harry Potter Universe but unless they are really good I'm not reading them because they would be money-grabbing publications.

The book(s) wouldn't necessarily be set then. There are 19 years still available to be filled in.
I read somewhere (not sure where) that her next book is going to be a kind of encyclopedic, fleshed-out epilogue, telling you more about what happened to each character after the books ended.

But you read the previous books? you know that dumbledore obtained a ring containing a horcrux? and that he later had a different arm. Remember?
And later, there was a little note where dumbledore and harry went to obtain the other horcrux, do you remember what it said? That was the good voldermort.
There is no "good voldemort" the person from the note is harry's godfathers brother Regulus Arcturus Black or R.A.B.
and Dumbledore didnt have a different arm his hand got blackened so he had the same arm(PS he cant include the ring in his will he already broke it)

I think that Dumbaldore is secretly bad but that snape is a goody. I think that Harry will die because then no one can carry on the storys after JK Rowling has stopped writing them.
No Dumbledore isnt bad he's the best character in the book

I think I'm going to have to read them all again anyway, as I have forgotten what happened in each of them, and the final book won't have the same effect unless you know all the little details, as it will tie up the loose ends. All I can say is that I think Harry will kill Voldemort, and Harry and Ron will fight over Hermione and Harry will die.
Again no Ron likes hermione and Harry likes Ginny not hermione so that would be Dumb if Harry just started liking Hermione

Aah but Ron will not mean it - it will be with his broken wand, you see. I just remembered, I was 9/10ish when I read the first book - and I thought Hermione was pronounced "her-mee-own". I was devastated when the film came out and told me otherwise.
You must be forgetting that he got a new wand
