tsk tsk microsoft trying to rule the world again... as shocamefromebay said, it looks too much like a calculator.

That is a common thing for computer scientists to do. We use metaphors so that people have knowledge of the product/tool/whatever just by hearing the name.
E-mail
Files and folders
Task manager
Window
And so on. People are familiar with a calculator and so without even using the system, they already have experience with it.
"In the real world, this would be a problem. But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist. So we'll go ahead and do that now..."

Who is gonna be the successor of Netscape or ICQ?
Who is gonna be the next victim of all-mighty Microsoft?
Wolfram, producer of Mathematica?
Or Maple?
PS: I use as little Microsoft as possible: Maxthon Explorer, Foxmail Mailreceiver, Skype communicator.

It makes me laugh!
Will beat Mathematica AND Maple?
I don't think so.
no, no, no - it's good but it sertianly won't beat them -
OK. For example consider the contemporary topic in the integral marathon - can MM3 say you that
IPBLE: Increasing Performance By Lowering Expectations.

what i do find interestin about this is that the program can like determine the text from the user just drawing it using a pen

hope it's not as bad as microsoft's speech recognition *shudders*

thank you for yr answer. I really am preparing for my SAT and am soooo busy.

I just don't get it. Why does Microsoft want to rule the world with a replica of a scientific calculator? What good would it gain, apart from a short term applause from soon to be ungrateful audience?
I shall be on leave until I say so...

im thinkin a couple dollars would make em want to do taht
but it is rather pointless
b/c those who really want to have the features that this thingy has could easily go online an dfind it elsewhere for free

If that's some computer download that does your homework for you, i need one of those.

cheating is bad
and even if u do rely on a pc to do your work for u
dont rely on a program that someone else made
amek urown program to do all the tedious stuff for u

that's looks like MS Graphing calculator,I get bundled from MS Student, only more advanced.

microsoft math 3.0 is great and user friendly, but it really doesn't rank anywhere near MATLAB in terms of capabilities.
Or Mathematica

I joined because i was having an issue trying to enter graph eqations in Microsoft math.. how many others out there are using this software that seeems to be unsupported play help ????

Hi Tron779;
Agree with Luis. Next time you have some dough buy Mathematica or Maple. They are the big boys on the block.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Hey thanks guys .....I guess microsoft di the same thing they did with VISTA you buy the product and then they want you to pay again for the fixes only this time there's no support either !

If anyone else out there has any news about Microsoft math and how is works please hit me up...till then I did get the new TI- (CAS) INSPRE caculator which is awsome for college math with much better support

Hi;
Not to change Tron779's mind he is apparently happy but for anyone else reading this.
I have me a TI - 92 their flagship and a TI - 85, they stay in a drawer collecting dust. If you already have a laptop and are a college student then for the same amount of money you can have Mathematica or Maple and run those on your laptop. You will now have a bigger screen, hundreds of times more memory and be hundreds of times faster. Much better graphics and it will breeze through college math. Even better when you start working you will already know how to use them.
If you are a little adventurous you can get maxima which is almost as good as the above 2 and it is free!

Microsoft Math is good and easy to use. It cannot calculate complex integrals or differentiation. If you want to calculate calculus problems, I suggest that you should do it with Mathematica.
