Finite! And Infinite! Are meaningless in the Unseen Unknown World! If you can´t see the End or Know where it is! Then you sure ain't Gonna be able to Calculate it! Guess is the Nearest try but as I have said Demostos would never Risk a Quoted 100 Percent Detection rate! They have far too much to lose!......

You can know something without seeing it. You can calculate things that are not in the physical world, too.

But you want to do finite vs infinite concerning this Post! so show some to do with Germs!

Germs are finite (to the best of our knowledge!), but you can apply mathematics that uses infinite concepts to model how they behave.

perhaps if domestos paid .001 percent more then they do right now to make their products, they could have that .001 percent of germ killing in the product and we would be happy for the rest of eternity!

Im sure there are substances that kill 100% of all germs maybe concentrated hydrofluoric acid or caesium hydroxide but honestly. do you really want something that is as powerful as that, when all you need is to get rid of a few germs? If you accidentally spill such a substance onto yourself, it will probably permanently destroy every cell in the part of the body spilt on. It might even kill you if youre not careful.
A cleaning agent that kills 99.999 per cent of all germs is more than good enough. What are the 0.001 per cent of germs that survive going to do to you anyway? 0.001 per cent is negligible as far as you are concerned. You are not a germ in the germ world.

I suppose Only Kill Millions of people every year! that´s all?...

Anthony.R.Brown, they only say 99.999% because there is most likely to be a piece of bacteria they have not discovered yet. What's the argument?
Offline
But how do we know that the undiscovered portion of bacteria makes up 0.001% of the total? It's probably more than that, but there's no way to tell for certain until we discover them all. But of course there's no way of knowing when we've done that.
Besides, I'm pretty sure it says that it kills 99.999% of all known germs, or something similar.

Yes, that is exactly what they state in most advertisements ... but I doubt they'll ever say the correct mathematical statement.

whatever it is, I hate soap ads because they try to clean my absolutely lovely and dirty television set.

In the case of Anne Berlin, that is absolutely not true, but I see your perspective. Clean everyone with Dettol.

my answer to that is yes.

Given that there are probably billions of germs on whatever surface you're cleaning, it's almost guaranteed that one or two will survive whatever treatment you're giving.
The cleaner people just put 99.99% on instead of 100 so that they don't get sued for those one or two. For all intents and purposes, the surface will still be "clean".

That's also the purpose of attraction. people who are dumb like me usually look at the number of 9's instead of 0's...
