A man by the name of Garrett Lisi has published an article called "An Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything" here: http://arxiv.org/abs/0711.0770
There is a great write up on it here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/core/Content … =30&page=0

It doesn't seem to be saying anything new till you get to the end:
The theory has no free parameters. The coupling constants are unified at high energy, and the cosmological constant and
masses arise from the vacuum expectation values of the various Higgs fields,
Which is pretty cool, if this survives peer review.
"In the real world, this would be a problem. But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist. So we'll go ahead and do that now..."

And the fact that it doesn't require more than 4 dimensions.

Wow, I got the whole PDF of his theory from MIF's first link (on the right of the web page)
Way over my head probably for my whole life, unless I get struck with some serious ability to learn more.

Here is an explanation of "E8": http://aimath.org/E8/e8.html
I only have a vague idea of Lie groups, they are kind of like groups that also need to be continuous. Maybe Ricky can help us out here!
