Jane’s quizzes

The questions get progressively harder; the harder the question, the more points it’s worth. See how many points you can score. (No Googling or cheating please. tongue)

7. There are 6 “flavours” of quarks. Up, down, top and bottom are four of them. What are the other two? (2 points; 1 point each)

8. Which axiom of set theory is equivalent to Zorn’s lemma and the well-ordering principle? (3 points)

9. Name three chemical elements whose names begin with the letter “D”. (3 points; 1 point each)

10. Which mathematician in 1882 proved that π is a transcendental number (i.e. it is not the root of any polynomial with rational coefficients)? (5 points)

Have no idea bout the Advanced Mathematics or Set Theory but would definitely like to learn it... someday!

Using google, one can answer any darn quiz (except of course for Mathematics Questions)!

BTW, i just wanted to say 'Thanks' (to you and to careless25 too) for starting Quiz/Puzzle threads!!
