The August contest on www.BigFlyGames.com is our first try at creating a REALLY challenging logic picture (pixel) puzzle. We think we're onto something - it took us hours to solve this! Maybe some of you with more logical minds could take a look and give us your feedback...

I dont see the puzzle u rtalking about. Did u even post the puzzle on there? I checked Games and Puzzles and only came up with a maze.

Can the 15 row snippets be slid left/right anywhere?
And the 15 column hints, can they be slid up/down?
Is that how it works?

BigFlyGames can u explain the whole puzzle because i have no idea just like John on how to do it.

The colored numbers refer to a "block" of pixels of that color. Each block can be "slid" to the right or left on the rows and up or down on the columns. There is a much more comprehensive explanation that's available as a free download clickable from the home page (the Start Over button) if that wasn't enough to get you started.

k i get it now. But with the twist added i guess there are about a thousands combinations to it.
1 thing i dont still get is that in the clues there is 1 yellow box saying that there will be 2 yellow in this column and there is another yellow in the same clues sayin there will be 3 yellow in the column.
This could mean 2 things
1) The color of the 2 clues is meant to be bit different but both came out as yellow or
2) There are 5 yellows in that column.
BigFly can u clarify the this.

When two boxes of the same colour appear next to each other, they follow the rules of a standard single-colour pixel puzzle. A yellow 2 then a yellow 3 means that in that column, there will be a block of two yellows, then a gap, then a block of three yellows. It's the gap that makes it "2,3" and not just "5".

This twist makes things much trickier (but also more interesting).
I've managed to fill in maybe 10 blocks that weren't there to start with, and placed about 3 of the clues so far.

Thanks for explaining that so clearly, mathsy. Yes, all color clues are given as the EXACT amount of colors in that section of blocks, and if another section of the same color is directly next to it in the clues, it must be separated by at least one blank pixel. However, if two different color clues are next to each other, there may or may not be any blank pixels between them.

It's quite hard to get started, but once you manage to place a few rows and columns and it starts solving more like a normal puzzle then it gets easier. The black pixels being very rare helped a lot too.

how did u figure out where the clues go?

It's tricky to explain, each clue placement used a different technique.
If you're struggling to get started, I can tell you that the first pixels I placed were in the bottom-left corner (try using the given black pixel to deduce something), then moving on to the general left area.

If you haven't seen a pixel puzzle before, it might be worth trying a normal version first, where all the row and column clues are in their places already. Then when you come to this one, you've only got one new concept to grasp.
(Edit: There are quite a few interactive pixel puzzles on the internet that you could use. Here's an example of one.)

It's definitely solvable with pure logic and no guesswork though, so don't give up!

I'd say about 1 or 2 hours of actual looking at the screen and filling things in.
I went off and did other stuff in between though, so I maybe had some subconscious thinking time.
