How does one use the graph of a function to find any intercept?
Use def. of intercepts
Intercepts are where graphs cross (or maybe just touch) an axis
so look on the graph to see where it crosses (or touches)
Very good. Can you tell me why that's the correct function?
Do the logic of the Q
I(x) is before taxes
T(x) is after taxes
What changes between I(x) and T(x)?
What math operation do they do to take out the taxes?
Use the fcn that uses that operation
A. yes
B. yes
C. yes
Hi Lucas!
1. solve for y=
how many y's do you get for each x?
2. agree
3, same reason as for 1.
1. agree
2. agree
3. no: plus-minus means every x gives 2 y's.
1. agree that its a fcn
2. agree
1. agree
2. agree
Find the domain of each rational function.
How is this done?
Rationals have denominators w/ variables in them
It can have division by zero
Find domain by finding zeroes; domain is everything else
1. f(x) = x/(sqrt{x - 4})
Root cant have negatives
Denominator cant have zero
2. h(z) = (sqrt{z + 3})/(z - 2)
Denominator cant be zero
The trick is to set up the correct equation leading to the right answer. There are lots of word problems that are simply not easy to do so.
Very much agree!

right
"varies directly with the cube of its mean distance a from the Sun"
1. right
2. right
3. right,
but I would simplify:
Im not sure what you mean for A.
For B do doubles:
x=0,y=0
x=1,y=2
x=2,y=4
That's 3 pts
You can find strait line equation
Just curious - what's your source for: I guess lots of computer people are saying that 0/0 should be 1
I don't remember; its just something Ive seen from time to time
Clearly that means 0/0 can be anything so mathematicians are never going to be able to accept a single value; too much mathematical theory falls apart if that is allowed.
Yeh i've never heard math people say 0/0=1
More like computer ppl I think?
In elementary school, math teachers teach fifth graders that 0/0 = 1.
wow
I never thot that anyone would say this to little kids!
Back in the 1970s, this idea of 0/0 = 1 did not make sense.
I don't remember specifically where ive heard this but it was always a recent thing
I had no idea ppl were saying this so long ago
Thank youfor the info
Plz dont feel down on yourself for being a guard
Id be scared even to try doing your job!
Youre brave!
Its his 1st post
"novice" gonna make mistakes
I think its ok to be nice
you say?
Last time you said you wanted steps but not answers so Bob taught me to hide the steps
so Ill do that again I hope thats ok w/ you
Find an equation of the line containing the centers of the two circles below.
x^2 + y^2 - 4x + 6y + 4 = 0
x^2 + y^2 + 6x + 4y + 9 = 0
Can someone get me started here?

What? Who cares? Stick to question at hand.
i saw you posting again abt playing guitar so I said hi
Sry i made you mad again
This isn't hw but a question:
I know 0/0 is indeterminant officially
but I guess lots of computer people are saying that 0/0 should be 1
Does anyone know if anything is changing now?
Do you think 0/0 will eventually be defined (in math) as 1?
