x^a+x^b=c

What can you tell me about a and b? Are they integers?
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

a and b are constant integers

When a >= b and a = 2 then there is a simple formula for x but when a > 2 it becomes complicated and ugly very fast. When a<0 and b<0 there are no formulas and how to solve them depends on the equation. Of course, there are numerical methods but again, it depends on the equation.
