Diagonals of Parallelogram

Prove that the diagonals of the parallelogram
in the figure intersect at their midpoints.

Here are the points as given in quadrant 1:

Point A = (0,0)

Point B = (b, c)

Point C = (a + b, c)

Point D = (a, 0)

Note: Point D lies on the x-axis.

I am thinking the distance formula for points applies here.
