what is the median and mode of a group of number?

okay,angie, the median is when you put the numbers in least to greatest order and then start with the left side and markone off.go to the right and do the same.keep doing this and the number that is still there,is the median EXAMPLE:numbers:5,9,6,1,1,7,23,54,12,29. least to greatest order:1,1,5,6,7,9,12,23,29,54.mark them off:,,,,,9,,,,the median is 9. if you end up with 2 numbers left then it would be a # in between.EXAMPLE:1,2,3,4 mark off:,2,3,the numbers2 and 3 are left. the number in between is 2.5!
the mode is the one that shows up the most in a group of numbersEXAMPLE:numbers:6,5,9,7,2,2,6,9,8,3 the one that shows up the most 2!(you do not need them in any order!!)

the mode is like which number appears the most and the median is the middle number when you put all the numbers in the correct order: smallest to biggest...
for example
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 5 5 5 5
The mode is 5 because it is appears the most times

Just to clarify some things:
In Prancing's example on the mode, 6 and 9 also appear twice. More than one mode is perfectly allowed, so in this case the modes are 2, 6 and 9. The exception to this is when all numbers appear the same amount of times; in this case there is no mode.
eg. For {1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4}, the modes are 1, 2 and 3.
For {1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4}, there is no mode.
Also, atut's definition of median is actually the definition of the mean.
