I wanna ask for the definition for 'power function'
say for example
2^X (2 to the power x)
X^2 (x sq.)
which one is a power function
i've struggled for some time

A power function is: f(x) = a x[sup]b[/sup]
So, "a" and "b" are fixed, while "x" is the variable

Hi,
Apower function is a function that has the form f(x) = x^a where a is a given real number
which is differentiable and has the derivative fُ (x)=a x^(a-1) and strictly increasing if a>0
and strictly decreasing if a<0 and constant =1 when a=0.
