If it is train or taxi or bus each day then we have:
3 choices the first day
3 choices the second day
all the way down to the 6th day
We use the multiplication rule: 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 * 3 = 3^6 = 9^3 = 729 ways

the multiplication rule is the permutation n^r rule right? so we have 3 modes to choose from and we are choosing 6?
