Direct Variation Word Problem

The number of pesos varies directly as the number of dollars exchanged. In 2000, one could exchange 30 dollars for 249.78 pesos.  What was the constant of variation (exchange rate) at that time?

Re: Direct Variation Word Problem

Hi Spanky;

30 k = 249.78

k = 8.326

1 dollar to 8.326 pesos

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
