please tell me how to enter y^2 on the TI 83 plus

I understand how to enter y=3x^2 + 3x -9 etc, etc, but how do you enter y^2=whatever?  Thanks!

generally you would not. You would use algebra to get y by itself. In this case take the square root of both sides which gives you the square root of (3x^2 + 3x - 9). If you enter it in correctly you should get your answer.

If you are asking about a function in the evaluation program, they are ALWAYS y = (function of x)

for what you want, y = sqrt(FUNCTION)
