Find the equation of the median of triangle ABC through B if A= (2,4) B= (2,-3) C= (-4,-2) are the vertices.
I tried answering it and got the equation as 2x-3y=8=0 .
Is this the right answer?

Hi soha;
Did you plot the 3 points and draw the line? Also, please check your equation, it does not make sense.
And there are 3 medians.
Work the problem until you get these 3 answers.

They have asked to find a equation of median through B?

Were you able to do it?
Does the drawing help you? The red, green and blue lines are medians.

I did not draw it like that.
Just imagined it to cut the midpoint of AC. , and solved through analytical geometry

That is what I mean, you solved it already. So we are done here.

yes, I solved it.
But you said that my answer is not right. Is it so?
I did not understand how you got your answer

Hi soha;
That is why I asked if you have made a drawing. Because when you would have graphed your answer you would have seen that it was not the median.
The median of B is the line from B to the midpoint of the opposite side.
First get the midpoint of AC: A (2,4), C(-4,-2). Add the x's and divide by 2 you get (2 + -4) / 2 = -1 so that is x coordinate
Now add the y's and divide by 2 you get (4 + - 2)/2 = 1 so that is the y coordinate.
The midpoint of AC is (-1,1). Now you determine the line that passes through B and the midpoint of AC.
Use the 2 point formula and plug in (2,-3) and (-1,1).
This is a variant of the 2 point formula.
You should get,
That is the formula for the median of B.

i did through that way only. And i got the same midpoint of AC.
And through 2 point formula, i got that equation(the one I have qritten in#1)
