ok oh so your the thing your trying to find is the second letter?ok sorry about that so now im trying to find the opposite umm let me see. ok im just gonna do some random stuff and see if it works i probably will get it wrong. So i did 10/40 then i clicked sin-¹ and i got 14.47 so im just guessing opposite is 14.47 length tell me how to do it if im wrong i dont really care if you tell me the answer.

for me it means that the sin equals the opposite divided by the hypotenuse

That is close but it really means the sine of the angle is equal to the opposite side to the angle over the hypotenuse in a right triangle.

In the problem you are working S is the sine of 40° , x = Opposite, H is the hypotenuse: You are looking for x, the side opposite the 40 degrees.

That is how you set the problem up. I know you cannot solve it yet, but look at it.

yep we are just finished the section with multiplying and dividing fractions. But i do know some advanced stuff that average 6th graders dont know

so im gonna cancel the 2 by dividing bye 2 and that cancels out the 2 then i do minus 1 from the 1 and that cancels it out then i do that to the other side 9/2 which equals 4.5 then i minus 1 and get 3.5 so x= 3.5

oh woops heh heh oh woops i got lazy and woops the answer is 4 i accidentaly did the dividing first than the minusing *slaps self* so actually x would equal 4 heh heh

so i know the sin of 40 is 0.64 so i would do 0.64x10 and got 6.42 right?

because the digit behind it is greater than 4 so you up the number in front of it by one
