Hi, I was wondering what is the best methods to go about solving these perticular fraction questions. The questions are as follows..
What is 5/6 of 360?
What is 9/8 of 200?
What is 3/8 of 128?
Add 3/4 of 216 to 3/5 of 75
What is 12/16 expressed as a decimal?
Deduct 4/7 of 49 from 100
I'm ok with fractions but I have no idea how to go about with these types of questions. If someone could explain the best method to complete these questions it would be fantastic.
What is 267 divided by 3?
Divide 126 by 14
Much the same with these types of question, just what is the quickest methods to solve these. Thanks!

I guess a formula would be helpful
1. if the problem uses the words: " what is ___ of _____" multiply.
example what is 1/2 of 2, answer 1/2 multiplied times 2 is 1

You can just convert the English to math:
"is" means "="
"of" means "*"
"what" means "x"
"add" means "+"
"deduct" means "-"
What is 5/6 of 360?
x = 5/6 * 360
Add 3/4 of 216 to 3/5 of 75
3/4 * 216 + 3/5 * 75
Hopefully this helps.

Hi Mariner;
Let's look at the last 2:
What is 12/16 expressed as a decimal?
Deduct 4/7 of 49 from 100
To express a fraction as a decimal requires division:
First reduce it to lowest terms by finding common factors:
I just used long division of 3 divided by 4 to get .75.
Fot the second one first get 4 / 7 of 49. That just means take 4 / 7 of 49. It is done by multiplication.
So 4 / 7 of 49 is 28.Now deduct means the same thing as it does in english. It means take away or subtract.
100 - 28 = 72 That is the answer.
Now, please try a few of those on your own. Post your work here so I can see what you are doing if you cannot do one.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
