Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Very good! You saw that. No it will be necessary.

Do another problem please.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

How about this one: 8y = 4 - 3x?

That is fine with me. Get to work!

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Alright.

Finding slope...

8y = 4 - 3x

8y - 3x = 4

8y/8 - 3x/8 = 4/8

y - -3/8(x) = 4/8

slope = -3/8?

"Little lady"? I cannot tell if that is meant to be endearing or insulting.

Line? Please explain.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Is not y = mx + b the same as y = b + mx ?

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

math

Alright...

so 8y = 4 - 3x

um...

-3x + 8y = 4?

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Nope it is already in y = b + mx form except for the 8. You do not have to do any more adding or subtracting.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Oh, I see.

So...

8y = 4 - 3x

8y/8 = 4/8 - 3x/8

slope = -3/8?

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Yeparoo! Much shorter! Mathematicians are lazy, they are always looking to save labor.

Now getting back to that comment I made...

Where did she go, there are more problems to be done.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

It was  condescending as well as chauvinistic. I am a male chauvinistic pig, I know I do not belong in your time frame.

Did you not say that you had to go and get a tutor for math???? You said I was not hard enough on you! I did not stand on top of you enough! I was too nice!!!!!! Well, good bye mister nice guy. You will learn or I will cyber kick you.

Another problem please...

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Yes, I did go to a tutor. No I never said you were not hard enough. But if that is how you want to interpret it that is fine.

Do you mean you will rp kick me, or kick me from this site?

Would you like to do more of these, or would you like to cover what they are currently having me work on?

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

No interpretation is necessary. When I asked you to clarify that is how you explained it to me. Do not worry, I am enjoying this method more.

rp kick?

There was a nazi on this forum yesterday. He said awful things. He got kicked off. You are not that way.

Pick problems that you are currently doing.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

rp = "role playing".

I see, well that is good to hear then.

I am working on products and factoring, it is the start of a new chapter for Polynomials. I am supposed to be simplifying.

I understand the easy ones. For example:

I get: (x²y)³ which I simplify to  x^6 y³

How about this: (2a²b)^4

Would I multiply the 2 or leave it as 2?

(2a²b)^4. Do this in the same way. Try it yourself.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Alright, I will assume that everything in the parenthesis shall be muntliplyed to the fourth power.

I was not sure, that is why I was asking.

Either way, if I do it like that, then the answer would be:

64a^6 b^4?

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Each one in the parentheses gets raised to the fourth power.

Are you sure of your answer what is 2^4?

Oh my, sorry. All it takes in one mistake when it comes to exponents...

I believe it is actually 16. Right?
