Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Really! I did not know that.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Is that sarcasm?

Btw I had this:

(m ³n + 8)(m ³n - 5)

and since I am in a hurry... my answer I got was:

m^6n² + 3m³n - 40

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Hi Sarah;

You go from your multiplication tables.

Put the 4 in the first column and carry the 2.

Now:

and remember to add the carried 2

And your done!

Thanks. I thought so too... however then I came to this:

(3 - c² d)(4 - 4c²d)

I really have no idea what I'm doing wrong with this one, but I keep getting something different or something that doesn't look right. hmm

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Well the first problem is that I cannot see what you have done! It is invisible. It may be right, it maybe crazy, it just might be a lunatic I am looking for...

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Hello Sarah smile

Sorry bobbym...

Here is my answer/work:

(3 - c² d)(4 - 4c²d)

*F* 12

*O* -23c²d

*I* 4c²d

*L* -16c²d

=

12 - 12c²d + 4c²d - 16c²d
             /      \
     (-12c²d) + (4c²d)
            /        \
         = -8c^4d²

= 12 - 8c^4d² - 16c²d

Oops, the 23 was a typo, is -12c^2d also incorrect?

Yes it does. Sorry, my mistake, thought I saw another d.

I think I multiplied 4 and 4c²d instead of  -c²d and -4c²d

Nope.

Are not the 2 lasts (-c^2 d ) and (-4c^2 d) so where did your exponents go?
