Hey, bobbym I have to do more of those problems like the one last night...

I know I should have a better attitude, but, is there any real reason I need to know how to do this? I mean, how will being able to "foil backwards" or whatever help me in life?

That is a tough question. It is difficult to predict where and what you will be 10 years from now. When I was about your age I made cataclysmic errors because I thought I knew what I would be doing for the rest of my life. Algebra is essential to the study of any more math than you already know.

There is a guy here, he was a translator he said what will I ever need math for... Well the translator job dried up and now he is in some technical field requiring advanced math. He now has to learn it. There is another guy here also like that. They have to work 3 times harder because they did not before. You just never know. If you ever make it to Vegas then you see what math is for!!!!

Believe me when I tell you there are 5 or 6 people here struggling with the math they need now. Math they should have got when they were your age. When I see how hard they are trying even I, Mr. Vicious am moved.

My father used to say that life is like a free buffet and that I ate like a bird.  Meaning I squandered my chances, I did not use my oppurtunities. Do not follow suit!
