Non singular and invertible are the same. They mean a square matrix that has an inverse.

An equivalent definition is a square matrix with a non-zero determinant.

when you say "square matrix" do you mean a matrix where the number of rows and columns is identical? i.e. a 9x9 matrix, or 3x3 matrix? or is it something different?

Yes, that is exactly what is meant. Only square matrices can be inverted.
