That is true. A small dog eats less. I have had a couple of medium size dogs 25 - 30 pounds. They were good friends.

hi mandy jane,
It's good to hear from you again. How's the studies going?
The ICS course says it uses the exam board Edexcel but in one of your earlier posts you said you were doing AQA foundation.
Please make it clear whether you are using the AQA exam board or Edexcel, whether it is foundation level and which syllabus exactly.
Where are you doing the exam?
As it is very near to your exam now, it might be better to get some past papers to practise and post difficulties here at Maths Is Fun.
But you want the right past papers which is why I need to know the exact syllabus for you.
Buit I think the Edexcel books are very good. Here's some links you may find helpful.
Have a look at
http://www.edexcel.com/migrationdocuments/GCSE2010/Spec%20B_Issue%202_WEB.pdf
for the details of the syllabus B course.
The books EdExcel produce for this are at
http://www.pearsonschoolsandfecolleges.co.uk/Secondary/Mathematics/14-16/EdexcelGCSEMathematicsSpecB/EdexcelGCSEMathematicsSpecB.aspx
I've not used these as they have only recently been published. But one of the co-writers is Keith Pledger and his previous book is the one I was going to recommend:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Edexcel-GCSE-Maths-Foundation-Mathematics/dp/0435534084/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1304971192&sr=1-1
WEATHER REPORT. It is warm and sunny here too. We haven't had a decent amount of rain for ages now.

hi mandy jane
You can download exam papers (no cost) at
http://www.aqa.org.uk/qualifications/gcse/maths/mathematics/mathematics-a-linear.php
They have three sets: June 2009, November 2009, and June 2010.
I don't know why November 2010 isn't there; but you will get 6 papers anyway which should be enough for you. That's two per exam session, 'non calculator' and 'calculator expected'. Make sure you download the foundation level papers as the highers are on the same link.
The mark schemes are there too; which will show you the answers and how to allocate marks if you get a question partly right.
My recommendation is to try these and post to the forum if you need help with a question. After you have done a few with no time limit; try some where you work to the time allowed so you can see what it is like to do a paper 'under exam conditions'.
The grade boundaries vary a little from year to year so I cannot say at the moment what % you need to aim for but I'll investigate further and post back if I find out anything useful.

hi Mandy Jane
I managed to find the 2009 grade thresholds.
June 2009 4306F MATHEMATICS A TIER F
totalled mark /200 - - - C =141 D =113 E = 85 F = 58 G = 31
Nov 2009 4306F MATHEMATICS A TIER F 4306/1F
MATHS A PAPER 1F /100 - - - C = 67 D = 54 E = 41 F = 28 G = 15
Nov 2009 4306/2F
MATHS A PAPER 2F / 100 - - - C = 66 D = 53 E = 40 F = 28 G = 16
The two papers have such similar figures that you can easily work out the combined threshold for Nov 09 by doubling the individual ones.
The actual grade awarded is always based on the combined total; so if you do well on one paper and badly on the other, the grade is, in a sense, 'averaged'
After a paper has been marked you can use these figures to decide the grade.
Eg. If you got 62% on Nov paper 1, that's above 54 so it is a 'D'. To get a 'C' you would need 67% or more.
I couldn't find the June 2010 anywhere but the thresholds will be about the same. They adjust from year to year to allow for a paper being a little harder or easier from year to year.
