Four astronaut brothers, Neil, John, Buzz and Eugene, all do tours of duty on a space station. Neil returns to earth every 9 weeks; John returns every 10 weeks; Buzz returns every 11 weeks and Eugene returns every 12 weeks. Each visit home is on a Friday for one day, and is included in the number of weeks above. They are all home for there mother's 50th Birthday Party. How old will she be when she next has all four sons home together?

Not another one!
Would you like Maths Is Fun to do the whole sheet? lol
Now you almost know the answer to this one.
The 11 week astronaut and the 10 week astronaut won't be home together until 110 weeks have past. Sound familiar?
It's just the multiples question with an extra twist. The answer will be in weeks and you'll have to convert it into years to get her new age.
ps. Look again at the multiples thread because you haven't completely answered the question.

so i have to make 110 weeks into years and add it to her age and then i have my answer??
Offline
so will she be 52? i think she is but im not so sure?

Not quite. 110 weeks is just when two of the astronauts are home together.
You have got to find when all four are back together.

Hi,
She will be 87.97 years old.

hi gAr,
I fear it may be too late. It's 'back to school after half term' here in the UK so I think lorynjane may have already had her maths lesson and handed in what she has done.

I wonder if the teacher has a list of them all?

Hi bob,
Yes, I gave it a try. I think it's little advanced for beginners.
