z = - 1.4 and z = -05
Offline
Is that -5 or did you leave out a decimal?

Sorry, I was busy. Please hold on.
Area between -1.4 and .5 is .6107
Area between -1.4 and -.5 = .2278

61% You multiply by 100. Please be careful with the decimal points. You do have a slight tendency to lost them.

Get some sleep right now. It is very late where you are.

Did you do all of the problem with a calculator and if so, how? I have a test coming up.

I used a computer but if you would like we can do it with a table.

it is an online test, and my brain is tired. I have about two more weeks of finals to go, then break.
I did not know you did equations online, since you are fast. Where are you located? In another country I think?
Offline
What sort of other tables do you have that can help?
Offline
Same ones I have been using.
I am going to take a little break now to eat. See you later!

Yes, I am in another country. It is called Las Vegas, Nevada. We do not look the same as the rest of humanity. We have 2 heads and 2 right hands. That way we can compute odds better and pick up our money quicker.
To get the area under the SNC from -1.4 to .5 using tables is easy:
Go to this chart here:
http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math … ZChart.htm
Go to the row marked .5 and the column marked 0.0, that box says .6915. Take .5 away from that. .6915 - .5 = .1915 That is the area under the SNC from 0 to .5. To get the area from 0 to -1.4 go to the row marked -1.4 and the column marked 0.0. That box says .0808. Minus that from .5:
.5 - .0808 = .4192 that is the area under the SNC from -1.4 to 0.
Now add the two areas, .1915 + .4192 = .6107. Multiply by 100 to get a percentage = 61.07%

Well, I am hoping that after this you will allow me to teach you how. Math does not go away. It just gets harder.
