Hi Sarah;
Look at the first picture. Click it so it gets bigger.
Multiply the 5 x 5 = 25. Put down the 5 and carry the 2.
Now look at the second picture and go 5 x 1 = 5 and add the carry 5 + 2 = 7 and write that down.
Do you follow so far?

Yes I Follow.
Hi Sarah;
First picture.
Now put down a 0 and say 1 x 5 is 5.
Then look at the second picture and say 1 x 1 is 1 and you put that all the way on the left.

Hi Sarah;
Then you are ready to do the adding up!
In the first column on the right in the picture. You see a 5 and a 0 underneath it. Add them up 5 + 0 = 5. Put that down at the bottom on the right.
Then comes the next column. It has a 7 and a 5 under it. Add the 7 + 5 and you get 12. So put down the 2 and carry the 1. I put it all the way on the right inside the little circle.
Now for the last one. You see the 1 in the circle which was a carry and the 1 under it. Add them, 1 + 1 = 2. Put that uinderneath and you are done.
