Re: Probability

Rita rolled a die 25 times. Her results are shown in the table below:

8. How many sixes did she roll?

8. 25-18=7
    she rolled 7 sixes

9. What is P(2)?

9. p(2)= 4/6

10. What is P(4)?

10-p(4)=5/6

11. What is the probability that she rolled a 2 or a 3?

11-1/6

12. What is the experimental probability of rolling an even number, according to Rita's data?

12-3/6= 1/2

13. What is the theoretical probability of rolling an even number?

13- 1/2

14. Find the experimental probability of rolling a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.

14-P(1)=6/25
p(2)=4/25
p(3)=1/25
p(4)=5/25
p(5)=2/25
p(6)=7/25

15. Find the theoretical probability of rolling a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.

15- (6(1/6)=1)

Hi;

Number 9 is incorrect.

Re: Probability

Yes, that is the theoretical probability. But you are supposed to be using the chart which is an experimental probability.

Re: Probability

ok so p(2)= 4/6 because she got it 4 times when she rolled out of 6

Re: Probability

Nope. It was rolled 4 times out of how many throws?

Probability = successes / total number

Please use that formula.

Re: Probability

For questions 16 – 20, use the spinner below. Show your work. (Note: The smallest section of the circle is 1/16 of the circle.)

how is it 1/16 and its 6 pieces ???thats confusing any clues

16. What is P(red, yellow, blue)?

16- p(red, yellow, blue)= 3/6

17. What is P(orange, yellow)?

18. P(green, blue, purple)?

19. P(pink)?

20. P(red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)?

Re: Probability

The probabilities do not have to be equal. Just as long as they add up to 1.

Is there more to that diagram?
