Calculate could just mean 'use a calculator'.

Did that and it comes to exactly 6.

That suggests a non-calculator method might also work ie just work around the rules of logs.

I can do it!  It took two sheets of A4 paper and multiple substitutions but eventually I got to

Here the log is base 12.

I am reluctant to type out all the steps until I know that's what you want.  Reply please.
