This is one application of Bayes theorem. It is the best explanation I have seen. I know it is long and gruesome but please read it to get an idea about your question. It has some interesting examples too.

Remember that Bayes theorem can reduced to a formula. Also it is as far away from a Kalman filter as a nail is to building a house.

That is difficult to explain, Bayes theorem is a mathematical formula. A Bayesian filter can be an algorithm that uses Bayes theorem. It can be much more complicated or not.
If this sounds tough right now it is because you are not yet familiar with the tools you need to understand it. It is like trying to build a house without knowing how to use a hammer or what a nail is. I can help you with the tools but it will take time.

Good morning. You could use Bayes theorem to figure the probability that the feature you have found is a hand. But it can not do a job as complicated as that by itself.

Here is a really easy one. No one woud ever use Bayes for this problem, it is just an example.
What is the probability that the second card of a deck is red if we are told that the first card is black?
P(A) = probability that second card is red.
P(B) = probability that first card is black.
