Hi phro
Try replacing it with a single word picture and then deleting it.

I've done that a few times already (see my posts #17, #18 & #25), and deleting single-word files works every time.
Oops...misread your post. Hang on...

I tried replacing the two-word file 'a b.png' (the doggy) with the same file renamed to 'ab.png', but all that happened was that I then had two doggy files: one named 'a b.png' and the other 'ab.png'.
Deleting them only deleted 'ab.png'.
MIF has already posted here and in the other thread of mine that I gave a link to, so I'm sure he's interested in this. Besides, he moderates this forum. But he said "The image functionality is a "plug-in" and I don't know enough about it to alter it."

Can't see any 'Browse' button. Did you mean 'Delete'? If so, yes...I clicked the delete button for all images every time and got the same result each time with single- and multiple-word files being treated differently.

Sorry, the button is called Choose File... I think.
All in all,the plugin is strange. Maybe I will ask MIF where he got it.

Oh, I see what you mean. You want to know how I uploaded the images.
Via Choose File in the Image Upload section.

Is that what you did when uploading ab?

Yes. That's the only way I've uploaded all these image files.
Also, I tried two different ways of submitting my post with an upload: with Delete either ticked or left blank for the file I wanted to delete or change. Same result for both.

So it seems there is no way to delete a multi word picture without deleting the whole post.

That's the only way I've ever done it. But then, some threads don't allow post deletion.

I don't recall that now, but within the last month I tried to delete a post and because that was rejected I just ended up editing it. The Delete button on the main page took me to the delete page, but clicking Delete did nothing.
I'm pretty sure I also came across that a year or two ago, but I have no details.

Yes,happened to me to. I think there is maybe some rule about deleting posts right after posting.

I doubt that's the reason. I've deleted several posts right after posting.
I think it's more to do with permissions or settings applied to the various forums, which for post deleting may not be global.
I just tried it with this post, and the deletion was accepted straightaway.

Maybe we could ask MIF what the reason is.

Testing a filename with two words that are joined with an underscore ('a_b.png')...
Edit 1: It loaded ok.
Edit 2: And it deleted ok too.

Testing a space after a single-word filename, and also an underscore after the filename...
Edit 1: Both loaded fine.
Edit 2: Only the image with the underscore deleted.

So it is not that it is multiple words, but the space that's bothering it.
EDIT:I put a space after the name and it deleted.
EDIT2:Uploading it again with spaces inside.
EDIT3:Won't delete.

Hi MathsIsFun,
Here are conclusions drawn from the tests:
An image with a space in the filename won't delete, but those with a single-word filename and those that use an underscore instead of a space will delete. There may be other replacements for a space, but I haven't tested them.
And there may be other scenarios where trying to delete an image fails...
Also, an image with a space in the filename can be replaced even if not deleted, provided the same filename is used.
