Hi bob bundy mandy here sorry to a bother can you tell what quistion i still have to answer? And thank you for the times tables progrom it is fun but hard. But i will get better at times tables with this program ok? send me message as soon as you can please?

hi Mandy,
Just got in. Go to go out again soon.
Your first times table time is good. It takes a few goes to get the hang of it.
Start a record of your times and try it 3 times a day.
Post me every time you do it quicker.
Haven't got time to check back on the work now.
From memory there some equal fractions with gaps to fill and you've got to practise the rounding page questions until you can always get 10/10
Plus, have you corrected all of Q1 and 2 from the assignment?

hi Mandy,
Here is a summary of work I have set you but not seen your answers:
Work list:
post #254 finding same value fractions ---- copy and fill in the gaps
post #300 grid showing prime numbers ---- do this exercise and check that the primes you find match the list from post #298
Assignment ---- Have you now got all the answers to questions 1 and 2 ? I suggest you post your new answers here so I can check them. (check post #317)
post #342 Have you tried this and managed to get 10/10 ?
times tables ---- Do the test three times each day. Report your new best time each time you do better than before.

hi Mandy,
Yes that's better, well done. You did 208 yesterday and now 187. Keep trying because you'll keep improving.
Post 353 has a list of all the things I think you should be doing.
The sooner you can do these the quicker we can move on.
I'll check in later when you are back from work.

Hi bob bundy just had a mintunt to ask you do you know the best way to put my maths from my big lap top to my small lap top? Can you let me know for when i call in at around 4.00 pm today please?

hi Mandy,
Not sure what you want to transfer.
Sometimes if I want something transferred to another computer I save it to a USB memory stick. Also you can email stuff to yourself. You send the email, log in on the other computer and download there. That's useful for email addresses and websites.
If your on-line course people have sent you a lot of stuff that's on one machine and you want it on both then the memory stick is probably the best way.

hi Mandy,
Send message now please?
I cannot reply immediately, if I'm not even logged in.
Do you understand what standard index form is?
You have never mentioned it and suddenly you've got a TMA to send.
Do you want to check your answers with me?
Picture shows how to put a standard index form number into your calculator.
What about all the work you promised to do over the weekend?

Hi bob bundy mandy here. I have the answer to the question you wonted so they are:-
Q1 Prime numbers are 17 & 47
Q2 Seventh number is 25
Eight number is 29
sixy eigh add on till you get to 93 is 25 and 93 add on till you get to 122 is 29
124 & 169
Q2
28.243 ÷ 2.6 to 2 dec place is 1176.26
0.25 ÷ 45 to 2 sig figures is 005.555
Q1 ½ = 2/4 = 36 = 4/8 = 6/9 = 8/24
Q2 1/3 = 2/12 = 2/12 = 8/3
Q3 2/12 = 4/6 = 8/3 = 1/24
Q4 1/3 =2/8 = /12
Q5 3/4 = /8 = 9/ = /24
Now tell me what is right and what is wrong then? hope some are right? I will be no here till around 5.00pm

Q1 Prime numbers are 17 & 47 Both correct, but there is one more to find.
Q2 Seventh number is 25
Eight number is 29 Both correct.sixy eigh add on till you get to 93 is 25 and 93 add on till you get to 122 is 29 Both correct.
124 & 169 Both correct.
Q2
28.243 ÷ 2.6 to 2 dec place is 1176.26 I don't know what you have done here. You did this correctly once. See post # 330 for answers before rounding and post #336
0.25 ÷ 45 to 2 sig figures is 005.555 Here again you have done something strange. It looks like you are not rounding properly. Have you done any practice from
http://www.mathsisfun.com/rounding-numbers.html
Q1 ½ = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8 = 6/9 = 8/24 Started ok but not 6/9 and 8/24
Q2 1/3 = 2/12 = 2/12 = 8/3 Not correct at all.
Q3 2/12 = 4/6 = 8/3 = 1/24 Not correct at all.
Q4 1/3 =2/8 = /12 Not correct.
Q5 3/4 = /8 = 9/ = /24 I made you a set of flash cards. All the answers were on those cards. Did you use them to do these?
I'm very disappointed that you are getting answers wrong that you did correctly a month ago. For the fractions,it looks like you have just guessed rather than used the cards you asked me to make for you. Have you actually printed off these cards? Did you have them in front of you when you tried these questions?

Hi bob bundy mandy here the fraction answer are
Q1 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8 = 5/9 = 12/24
Q2 1/3 = 2/6 = 4/12 = 8/3
Q3 2/3 = 4/6= 8/6 = /24
Q4 1/4 = 2/8 = 3/12
Q5 3/4 = 6/8 = 9/12 = /24
Hope thay are right this time i have used my flash cards you made me ok? Send me message and let me know please?

hi Mandy
Getting better.
Q1 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8 = 5/9 = 12/24 All correct except 5/9. None of the flash cards has /9 on it so where is this answer coming from?
Q2 1/3 = 2/6 = 4/12 = 8/3 All correct except 8/3. Three thirds makes a whole, so 8/3 is nearly 3 wholes. This couldn't be right.
Q3 2/3 = 4/6= 8/6 = /24 2/3 and 4/6 are correct. 8/6 could not be right.
Q4 1/4 = 2/8 = 3/12 All correct. Hurray!!!
Q5 3/4 = 6/8 = 9/12 = /24 All correct but how many for ?? /24 ?
So what is still going wrong?
Let's try something.
Pick up one flash card. Use a ruler to measure how long and how wide it is. Post back your measurements.

Hi bob bundy the measuremrnts of the flash cards are 9cm long & 3cm hight? Now what to do then? Send message and let me know please?
Offline
hi Mandy,
Way back in April I suspected you hadn't made the flash cards properly and I repeated the instructions with pictures. But it seems you still haven't done that.
The pictures I made of fractions should be on the front of the card. The writing should be on the back.
This is what you need to do:
(i) Cut out each flash card.
(ii) Fold it in half and stick it together like that.
Check you have done this correctly. What are the measurements now?
(iii) Do that for all the cards.
Check you have them all. How many cards have you made?

Hi bob bundy i have made 20 flash cards ok? Let me know what to do now?
Offline
Nearly there.
That sounds like what I intended.
But you should have 24.
So which ones are missing?
Please turn them over so you can see the fractions and write me a list of which ones you have got.
eg. 1/2 3/4 5/12 ......... and so on.

Hi bob this is my list i have 1/3 3/4 8/24 18/24 2/3 1/2 16/24 7/24 2/6 3/6 4/6 5/6 1/4 2/4 2/8 4/8 4/12 3/12 7/12 9/12 send me the ones i have misst then? Now what should i do?
Offline
Ok. The set of 4 that is missing was in post #254.
I've put them again below this post to make it easy for you.
Print off these and then you'll have a set of 24.
Here's what to do:
(i) Turn them all face up so you can see the pictures.
Each picture shows a 6 by 4 rectangle with some squares shaded yellow or brown (it doesn't matter which colour)
Think of them as bars of chocolate which started with 24 squares of chocoloate in each.
The shaded squares show how much you would get of that bar. Pretend the unshaded bit has already been eaten.
(ii) Pick out all the cards that have the same amount shaded.
eg. 1/3 and 8/24 have the same amount shaded.
Make piles of cards that all have the same amount shaded.
You should be able to make 5 piles like this and you will have 3 cards left over that don't match up with anything else.
(iii) Check carefully that every card in a pile has the same amount shaded. The bits shaded don't have to be in the same place, just the same amount.
eg 1/4 and 2/8 both have 6 little squares shaded so they are the same fraction.
(iv) When you are sure you have got all the fractions in the right piles, go back to the question and try to do it all. You should be able to fill in all the gaps, because I made up that question with all of my flashcards in front of me.
Post back your answers.
