Series: little step

I have

(( n - 1)/(n+1))^n²  by using root criteria for series convergence I arrived to this:

((n-1)/(n+1))^n  I don't remember how to trasform it  in

(1-2/n)^n -> e^-2

Does it correct do this:

(n-1)/(n+1) -> [I don't remember this!! ]  (n-1-1)/n and a then  (n-2)/n  (1-2/n)  ??
