Right. I kinow what you mean by that and you may well have put the right number at the top, but
it is a good idea to try to avoid putting something like " 9 x 9 = 1 " because although it is indeed 1
that we are trying to get here strictly speaking 9 x 9 is 81.
You can probably see that the answer at the top becomes: 0 8 3 1 so the answer is 831.
Shall we try a multiplication for a change how about 683 x 6 ?
First of all how should we lay out this multiplication ?

i have to nipm out to the shops so will send it later tonight around 7.00pm ok?

_____
1 5 1
4 6 0
_____
6 1 1
_____That one is wrong, but it is not too far out. You have I think made a minor error with either
the carry of 3 x 7 = 21 and carried a "1" instead of "2". Or maybe you accidentally put in
7 x 2 as 13 rather than 14. The number at the top in the middle bit you have put as " 1 5 1 ".
What did you carry at each stage in this bit ? Do you want to try that bit of it again ?3 6
3 4
______
1 4 4
1 0 8 0

1 2 2 4
______Very good. That is correct.

________Very good again, although you have written them a bit out of alignment on the screen you
have got all of the middle bits correct and added them correctly. So you may wish to just look at the first one and see the mistake you made in the first middle number.

The " 1 6 1 " bit is now correct. Well done.
Now because the answer depends upon this bit being correct you should really redo the addition.
In other words what effect does this have on the final answer ?
Offline
The answer is 621 is that right?
Offline
Yes well done. Now what topic do you want to do ?
Multiplication ? Division ? Or the next topic ? (If so which one ?)
Offline
Could we do the next topic and then come back to multiplication and division please?
Offline
Right now according to what I have read on something you wrote to me about earlier your next topic
is "Factors and Multiples". Is that the one that you consider to be next. Or is there something else ?
Offline
the next one i would like to do is percentages please if that is ok with you?
