With the "homework" bit of that have you attempted those quesitons and is it presenting a problem to actually post answers or
attempts to answers either here or via email ?
Offline
By the way don't worry about the computer bit or the bit about firefox, chrome, internet explorer. If you can use the zoom function
okay then you should be fine with that as you are.

Hi steveb. Still need to do more on the question you set for homework ok? What next?
Offline
Right. Have you looked at my images for the division of 1 divided by 6 ?
Also I have seen your bit where you went through the question about 5 divided by 6 do you want to carry on with that?
Offline
Hi steveb could we do next. Topic then please?

The first thing I would do with this question is to add the 2 and 3 together in the ratio 2:3
So 2 + 3 = 5
This "total" helps us see what scaling factor is needed to get the total up to 10. Can you see what the scaling factor is ?

Is the answer 5 red and 9 blue am I right?
Offline
No. That is not correct. Can you see what scaling factor is needed to get from a total of 5 to a total of 10 ?
Offline
Is it 5 am I right?
Offline
No the point I was getting at was that in order to get from a total of 5 to a total of 10 we have to multiply by 2.
Do you see what I mean ? The ratio was 2 lots of red to 3 lots of blue suggesting a total of 5 units.
We need to double this amount to get to 10. We could have done 10 divided by 5 to get this result.

Yes I can see it now. Do you have other one for me to try please?

Can you now see from post number 887 how to get a value for the number of tins of red and blue paint to make 10 tins in total?

Hi Mandy. A couple of questions: (I have hastily edited that post by the way because I have changed my mind about what I wanted
to write.)Equipment:
How well are my emails appearing in terms of readability etc. ?Also: are you able to use the "zoom" function on your browser (internet explorer, chrome, firefox etc??)?
I don't want you to spend any money on anything by the way.
I have received some emails from you that have said they were sent by a BlackBerry and I just wanted to check that you are OK
with how well you can see my posts. I know Bob and some others write in a large font using Latex. I can do that, but the trouble
is that it takes me longer to post things that way and I can get in a muddle with it - difficult if you are online at the same time.
same.
The integral of hope is reality.
May bobbym have a wonderful time in the pearly gates of heaven.
He will be sorely missed.

Yes the email are fine to read and yes sometimes I use my BlackBerry playbook that I have ok.anything els do you want to know?

Mandy: I was trying to get you to see that if we have 10 tins of paint in total then we need 2 x 2 = 4 tins of red paint
and 3 x 2 = 6 lots of blue paint. Have a look at that and see if you can see what I mean about the "ratio" being 2:3 ???
Mathgogocart: Hello there. I am not sure which bit/bits of that are the "same" I think you probably mean the last bit about getting
in a muddle with Latex if you are in a hurry ???
Offline
Mandy: suppose you needed 15 tins of paint in total with the same ratio of 2:3 what would the numbers be this time?
Edit: What is the scaling factor this time ?

Edit: Sorry about that your answer is correct well done.
Can you interpret your answer in terms of:

Sorry about that you submitted your answer before I submitted my post and things got confusing ...
Another question to do with this:
What percentage of tins are red ?
What percentgae of tins are blue ?
Are these always the same if the ratio is 2:3 ?

Your answer in post number #896 was correct by the way well done. You may find it easier for the percentages question to go
back to the total being 10 and do something to those figures ???
Hint multiply by a scaling factor to get a total of 100 tins ?

Is the answer 100% am I right?
Offline
Do you want me to give you the answer to that one or shall I leave you to think about it for longer ?
Edit: No 100% is not correct. Try again.
