Find the length of the shortest altitude of a triangle with sides of lengths 10, 24, and 26.
I see you have graph paper.

thanks. help on this?
a median of a triangle is a line segment from a vertex of a triangle to the midpoint of the opposite side of the triangle. The medians to the legs of a certain right triangle have lengths 13 and 19. What is the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle?

I would say that is correct.

in triangle RST, RS = 13. ST = 14, and RT 15. If M is midpoint of ST, what is M?

Hi cooljackiec;
You have left something out of the question, please copy it the way it was given to you.

Hi Agnishom;
It is the midpoint of one of the sides.

You are correct, the OP has left a portion out. I have guessed at that portion.

Just like to point out that theres an elegant formula for the altitude of a triangle in terms of its side lengths: Given a triangle with sides a, b, c, the altitude perpendicular to the side with length c is given by

thx. can you answer these, i cant figure them out:
A square and an equilateral triangle have the same perimeter. Let A be the area of the circle circumscribed about the square and B be the area of the circle circumscribed about the triangle. Find A/B .
Let M be the midpoint of side AB of triangle ABC. Angle bisector AD of angle CAB and the perpendicular bisector of side AB meet at X . If AB=40 and MX=9 , then how far is X from line AC?(do this have anything to do with pythag?)

Is it just me or do we not need the length of AB in the last question?

Hi;
AB is 40 but now I think we need more info. The length of AC would be nice.

We do not need the length of AB.

Of course we need AB but it is given.

We do not need it. Did you try drawing a picture in GG and then changing AB?
