In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Hi MIF

It seems the plus problem is very persistent: http://www.mathisfunforum.com/viewtopic … 26#p253826

Re: plus signs in Latex

To speed up page loads, once latex is created it is kept in a large cache. If latex was always being created things would be really slow.

So if you write some latex that has already been done you get that old version.

Try changing it a little (say with a space or variable change) and it will likely have to make a new one that works properly.

Re: plus signs in Latex

So, the cache has the LaTeX version of that expression from before you fixed the plus problem?

Yes, and I can delete it manually, by looking up its cached name. Such as "f/f/29156445d5e534d194b44703db36ab1.gif" for the misbehaved image above.

LaTeX is not parsing the character ' at the moment. neutral

f'(x) = 2x :

Re: plus signs in Latex

A workaround would be to escape it:

"Data! Data! Data!" he cried impatiently. "I can't make bricks without clay."
