Hi;
You can also use the formula that anonimnystefy showed me.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Nehushtan: Thanks for pointing out my missing square root sign. I was just getting there as I had decimal values for the four possible answers and the question when you posted.

hi niharika_kumar
My 'Help-me' posts do tend to suffer from gremlins . What follows may act as a warning to those who read them.
(i) Sometimes typos creep in. I may not spot them until I look at my own post later and sometimes not even then.
http://www.mathisfunforum.com/viewtopic … 51#p293051
(ii) Sometimes I fail to read the question properly and go off 'on a tangent'.
(iii) Sometimes I'm just wrong. I usually leave these errors as I don't like the idea of changing history to make myself look better. In the example above, I think I just got confused by all those square root signs. I'm trying to kid myself that I was about to spot it as I had evaluated all the possible answers in a spreadsheet and worked out which one worked (with the right number of roots).
(iv) Sometimes it takes me a while to fully get to grips with a problem. I have some that I'm still trying to answer 2 years later.

I don't know what to say to that but you accept it or not ,you are great in maths(and several others to in this forum) and it is great to interact with you all.
