hmm... so what's the need for using the interpolation formula..i have enough data to plug into the cubic myself and find the answer... it's really to unnecessary formula don't you think so?

I do not like or use the Lagrange formula. In keeping with the teakettle principle I use simultaneous equations for interpolation. Mathematica uses it in its Interpolating polynomial command and I do not know why.

There are always more than one way to solve a problem. Lagrange lived in an era where the solution of simultaneous equations was very difficult.
