Re: Transcendental numbers

I am fascinated by that too. Shouldn't it be

Instead?

Re: Transcendental numbers

I went to a lot of trouble to get those curly brackets.  Took four or five tries with the Latex.  Sob, sob.

In set notation 'language' a pair of curly brackets means 'the set of'*, so I think my version translates as

The set of integers is a proper subset of the set of rationals.

I take it you are interpreting my version as

The set containing the set of integers etc.

You may be right, but it's only notation.  In my mathematics I define the correct notation as being the one I am using.  smile

Bob

* as in

means "The set of values of x such that x is real and greater than 3."
