it seems like the numbers 1, 2 and 3 are going periodically upwards from left to right.

Well I had hoped that x, y and z could all be determined in which case I would have 'computed' it.  But the algebra is horrendous so I'm taking a break.

I'm getting x ≈ 2.5 by trial.

Cannot get closer with Excel 'goal seek'.

And that is 'compute'.  smile

EDIT revised answer by algebraic method and function grapher.

x = 1, y ≈ 3.3  Unfortunately I also got z = 2/0  whoops!  Surprisingly, this didn't appear to affect the working for x and y.  Hhmm.

LATER EDIT:  Best answer.  x = 1.75, y = 3.5, z = 14/3

This answer fits my earlier equations and has no strange values for z.  smile
