the smallest and largest numbers that you could write down?

Using only one of each letter in the alphabet, you can spell:
ZERO or NOUGHT
MINUS FORTY (allowing negative numbers)
FIVE THOUSAND
These are the smallest and largest possible numbers.
My question is why cant TEN LAKHS be an answer... Is it Because of Lakh is not an unit in the country to which he author of the question velong?

That is probably the reason, but the answer given does say "our solution" and not "the solution."
